Project Overview:

For "Angry Bots," I focused on composing and integrating a sophisticated music system that dynamically responds to gameplay, enhancing the immersive experience with adaptive audio.

  1. Music Composition and System:

    • Adaptive Music Tracks:

      • Composed multiple layers of music tailored to different game states and enemy encounters, ensuring each layer smoothly transitions and builds intensity based on gameplay.

      • Designed specific combat stems for each of the three enemy types (buzzer, mech, spider) that ramp up in intensity as the player engages with them.

    • Vertical Composition:

      • Utilized vertical composition techniques to manage and blend multiple music layers, allowing for real-time adjustments to the audio as the game's state changes.

      • Created a low-energy ambient stem that plays during calm moments and seamlessly transitions to more intense combat stems when enemies appear.

    • Dynamic Music Transitions:

      • Implemented a system in Wwise that dynamically triggers music changes in response to game events, such as enemy attacks or player actions.

      • This system ensures a fluid and responsive musical experience, with smooth fades and transitions between ambient and combat music.

  2. Sound Effects (Complementary):

    • Designed and implemented a variety of sound effects to complement the dynamic music system, including:

      • Ambient Sounds: Exterior rain, interior hum.

      • Enemy Sounds: Alerts, destruction, and combat actions for buzzers, mechs, and spiders.

      • Player and Environment: Actions like shooting, hitting, and interactions with doors and terminals.

    • Ensured that sound effects were layered and processed to integrate seamlessly with the dynamic music, providing a cohesive audio experience.

  3. Integration in Unity via Wwise:

    • Leveraged Wwise's powerful audio engine to handle real-time music layering and transitions within Unity.

    • Followed an Agile development process to continually refine and perfect the music integration, ensuring it remained responsive to gameplay and player interactions.

This project showcases my ability to create and implement adaptive music systems that elevate the gaming experience by responding dynamically to in-game events and player actions. It highlights my expertise in vertical composition and real-time music integration, crucial for crafting immersive and engaging game audio.
