Project Overview:

For this horror short film, where a detective infiltrates a clinic conducting monstrous experiments on animals, I created a score that mirrors the dark and ominous tone of the narrative. The composition evolved from subtle unease to chaotic tension, using advanced musical techniques to enhance the storytelling.

1. Spotting and Time Code Alignment:

   • Spotting Notes:

     • Carefully followed spotting notes to align the musical cues with specific moments in the film, ensuring the score precisely matched the desired emotional beats.

   • Time Code Precision:

     • Each cue was meticulously timed to coincide with the film’s scenes, enhancing the dramatic impact and narrative flow.

2. Initial Atmosphere:

   • Dark and Ominous Start:

     • Composed an initial soundtrack that was dark and foreboding, setting the tone for the film’s unsettling story.

     • Used a minimalistic approach to avoid heavy orchestration, focusing instead on creating a sense of dread and anticipation.

3. Creepy and Tense Evolution:

   • Layered Build-Up:

     • As the film progressed, the music became increasingly creepy and tense, gradually layering additional elements to heighten the suspense.
